Vodafone's prepaid smart plans now need a makeover. The closest comparison is Smart 25 at $25 per month. The only think that was keeping me with Vodafone is the bestmate, But now that these 2degrees plans include 30minutes of talk time it will probably cover it. Good news too about the 300MB data. I am seriously thinking of switching now

Mobile offers never stand still ;)

300GB of data is asking a bit much don't you think? (title of thread)

LOL. 300MB. But 300GB would be great too.

Everybody's needs are different how about 160 any network minutes, 400 texts and 40 mb of data and a whole pile of on net minutes for $16 per month.

Would be good if Vodafone would lower the Supa Prepay base rates (per min and per text) to match prepay smart's base rates (49c/min and 12c/text)

The (subjectively) 'high' cost of minutes has lead us to txt for most of a decade.

We now think it almost rude to "barge in" by phoning directly.....as compared to txt-ing which gives the other party a chance to respond when convenient.

The most usual practice now if we need to talk (save time - too much to say) is to txt and arrange a time for the (short) voice call.

It works.

But the cost of voice minutes is what drove us to this socially advantageous solution.

Thank you. :-)

Data needs have been added to that. We're not happy unless we have at least 2GB each / month.

Especially as off net voice minute to terminate on a competitors network only costs 3.8 cpm by April and the wholesale rate is charged by the second. Virtually nothing for a on net call.

remember the incremental cost per call is virtually nothing for on net and 3.8cpm off net. the actual cost to the network has to factor in the huge ($400mill+) cost of building the network in the first place, the baseline OPEX cost of powering sites, providing transmission, leasing property to have sites.......etc

I guess they could charge you a $10 access charge per month that gives you no minutes, txt, or data and then give you lower rates, but customers don't really like paying for nothing :)

Disagree. Cost of calls has never worried me, I like being able to fire off a text and get on with stuff rather than having to blah blah away on the phone. I can also answer texts when I like, mind you I can ignore incoming calls as well I guess.

100mb is nothing for a moderate smartphone user. I'm sure you guys know this. 2degrees seem to recognise it. I was using about 4-500mb a month on my iPhone 4 on VFNZ. This has dropped significantly now I am in Oz on VF and they zero rate Twitter and Facebook (including via the API) which makes a big difference to usage.

Have a weightier data option less minutes and maybe less texts would be better for many people I think.

And I note on Super prepay they are offering 1000 off net minutes with a $30 top up for weekend use. So are you saying that they aren't making any money.

Johnr

I stand corrected, I forgot to add in my last post that the 1000 minute off net top up offer expires 3 April 2012.

I also forgot to mention the rounding up of a voice call to the nearest minute.

More data, less everything else would work for me. I traded up to a smartphone from an ipod touch (and an Ipaq before that) because the touch is about the only pda left on the market, and mobile data makes a pda really useful. I use Wifi at home & work, but 100mb a month is barely enough to keep the email synching along with some light twittering. I txt more than voice, but not more than half a dozen txts a day, often not that many in a week. Most of my voice calls are incoming.

I have suggested a heavier Data offer a couple of times, but its yet to be recognised.

The Supa PP 1000minutes is a limited time offer, one of the many Christmas promotions we were running.
