It looks like the smart auto-installer will break under Vista as it appears to be mounted on a 16 bit filing system? The Vodem USB composite device looks like an USB CD Drive but it cannot be read by Vista, well I cant read it. The auto installer, licence prompts and so on fails to launch. Copying the contents of the disk from a non Vista OS machine and launching the autoinf reference only manages to partly install the drivers and the VMC Lite software, and then only by launching the miscellaneous binaries with fingers crossed. Manually installing libraries, registering controls and importing registries however still isnt enough to coax the vodem into life.
Besides, the modem and comport interfaces dont install automatically on device insertion only the CD device. Essentially unusable, although hardware reset or reboot may trigger device detection but that isnt friendly. The software license indicates alpha software. It works on XP but the vodem looks flawed on Vista. Would love to hear from a succeesful user under Vista RC2. Vista hasnt been kind to the regular VMC application but I have it working reliably with a 3G card using version 4 software and drivers, but it would be nice to have this cooperaating with Vista and the vodem. Thoughts.?? The configuration is an Compaq nx6325 Turionx2/2.0 laptop.
