benmurphy66: Thanks John. by unlocked does that mean we can roam from 2Degrees onto it?

I suspect not if you are in the Wellington region, Try a manual network selection and see what happens

locked means no Vodafone subscribers can attach to that technology as in this case 4G 1800Mhz but unlocked means the site is unlocked for testing and optimisation and subscribers can attach and use the site

Thanks John. I appreciate you taking the time to update this post and then explain it. I expect Vodafone will be getting some new customers and 2Degrees confirmed they have no plans to put any gear on that tower which is a pity but I guess their loss.

Have you tried a manual network selection on your handset to the new site?

Yeah doesn't connect sadly. We can't roam on other towers in the region. I just wasn't sure if the rbi sites were managed differently. Other people in the area are reporting full coverage and are very pleased ( we have a Facebook group for things about our area)

The 4G 1800Mhz should be unlocked by the end of the week this will provide 4G to more users as more handsets in the market like the iPhone 5 , Samsung S4 , Sony Z2 ETC....support this band (Band3 1800Mhz of the LTE band plan)

Edit: grammar

Hey guys! As already mentioned it is the Nikau Valley RBI site; we co-locate on every RBI site where we don't already have coverage, so our gear will be going in on this site soon. ^Sam

For future reference in case somebody comes and looks at this. 2DegreesCustmercare have confirmed 2degrees have no plans to place equipment on this new tower.
