I live in the Kapit Coast (north of wellington) and there is what looks like a new cell tower getting built. Is there anywhere I can find out which networks might use this tower?  (image )

cool. should be good as where I live we get little to no coverage due to a hill between us and the existing towers. I had believed that our "RBI" deployment was an upgraded cabinet but maybe not.

Lol Kapiti isn't that rural. Most of us have 100Mbps cable.

OP - Where is this tower? Does it show on the 'nz cell map' linked at the top of the page?

It's on the hill above the quarry between paraparaumu & Nikau Valley. In Nikau valley we have next to no mobile coverage so any improvement will be awesome

There is a new RBI build for Nikau Valley, so this is probably it.

Thanks mate. Chorusvan had told me a year or so ago that we were also getting a cabinet upgrade so was surprised they would do both (hopefully we still get the cabinet upgrade as I could then get VDSL)

Where did you read that? New RBI sites with 4G are hitting close to 150Mbps just on the 4G speed alone then you have 3G

Kapiti Cable Congestion

Good to see they're getting Wireless RBI - nobody wants slow Outram speed cable.
