My number was originally 025 3.
I can remember buying my first phone. Pretty sure it was a Nokia 1000. Huge phone that wouldn't fit in my pocket.
I have 021 6xxxxx which I got in 2005, but I'm guessing it's a recycled number that's a few years older than that.
I'd love to get my 025 back... was easy to remember and recite. ah well.

tbnz:wellygary:tbnz: Random question but does anyone know if it's possible to find out the date that my mobile number was first issued?
I have an old 6 digit 021 number (now with Spark) and was curious of the date I was first issued it, from my memory it would have been back around 1993-1995.
Is there some sort of register that can be queried?
Cheers!Where do you live?,
Bellsouth (021) started in Auckland July 93, they didn't expand to Wellington and other locations until later in 94
- ah the memories of Nokia 1011s and full card seized sims :)
I live in Auckland now, but at the time I got it in Queenstown - where I lived at that time, it was definitely Vodafone, and I do remember BellSouth so maybe it was more like 1995.

It's hard to get any good numbers these days, this is why i would never sign it over to the company i work for as a "company paid number". Had a friend that did that and when he lost his job they refused to release the number back to him off their account. He also had the number from the late 90's.
I LOL when old people say "and I get a company phone" as part of their pay package!

Upstairs at O'Connell's? Got a prepaid SIM from the Vodafone there, I thought '99.
I've still got my 021 6xx xxx, in large part thanks to @linux who managed to "Rescue" it for me back in 2010 when I had it on pre pay as I had a work phone and wasn't using it, stuffed up and let it get disconnected for not topping up.

I joined BellSouth in around 1996ish. At that stage from memory they were only issuing 021 5xx xxx numbers. I wanted to get 021 STEVEN but they weren't allowed to issue numbers beginning with a 7.
I ended up with 021 4xx xxx which was the same number I had on Telecom, and moving networks was also the only way to get a 4xx xxx number.
I still have a CSD data, CSD Fax and Fax Mailbox active, all of which are 021 6xx xxx numbers.
Got my 021 8XX XXX in 2007, can't remember if it was pre-pay or post pay now. Like having the short one, also now the old SKY debt collection calls from the previous owner finally stopped a couple years ago.

When would they have started recycling numbers? I don't think I ever had any concerns with my 021 4.. number. I thought this one was picked up around '03/04.
