Random question but does anyone know if it's possible to find out the date that my mobile number was first issued?

I have an old 6 digit 021 number (now with Spark) and was curious of the date I was first issued it, from my memory it would have been back around 1993-1995.

Is there some sort of register that can be queried?

Cheers!

mine would have been around 96 or 97 with vodafone.  I remember sitting in store with the vodafone guy looking at the numbers they had and trying to find an easy to remember one.  I got a really good number :)  Does sound a little like a taxi number however.

Also remember a few times vodafone called me about "giving up" the number (before people could port their numbers between carriers) because they had someone from another telco wanting to swap to them and wanted the 021 version of their 025 number

Where do you live?,

Bellsouth (021) started in Auckland July 93, they didn't expand to Wellington and other locations until later in 94

- ah the memories of Nokia 1011s and full card seized sims :)

Awesome!

Yeh I remember getting mine too, mine is pretty easy to remember (repeating digits) but sounds like you got a really good one!

I live in Auckland now, but at the time I got it in Queenstown - where I lived at that time, it was definitely Vodafone, and I do remember BellSouth so maybe it was more like 1995.

It's hard to get any good numbers these days, this is why i would never sign it over to the company i work for as a "company paid number".  Had a friend that did that and when he lost his job they refused to release the number back to him off their account. He also had the number from the late 90's.

Looks like I got lucky. I've only been in the country a year and my employer gave me my first NZ mobile with a 9 digit 021 5xx xxx number. Pretty easy sequence of numbers to remember also.
