The reviews on the website are not written by customers but the people selling them!

These things have known to stop 111 calls connecting! Please do not install it

Vodafone can if you ask the right person, They will lock the unit to certain IMSI's only (Not IMEI)

I should have asked that at the time but I had a hard enough time buying the thing from vodafone that I didnt want to ask them questions about it, person in the store convinced me it wouldnt work unless I was on vodafone broadband which I knew wasnt the case. It sits ain a cupboard unused now as my new place has plenty of reception.

crusader2015: Thanks useful info. I did get the Suresignal devices through Vodafone. They replaced them twice so I had a total of three unit. Still never improved the reception and decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of contacting them again.
Yes I agree those websites look like they are local, using .co.nz too and you select one of our NZ providers. Heaps of reviews from people who have bought them and set up successfully as well.

You trust those reviews? I wouldn't and in my opinion they are fakes.

Mobile networks and RSM will find you and the device if it is causing interference on the network. Don't for one minute think they're incapable of doing this.

If you are caught you will be fined. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

They do know, they dont care. They are not breaking any laws by exporting them from China to you. They have your money and your best bet is a chargeback for selling you something that is misrepresented but they will request the stuff returned and you will have to ship it back to them which costs a crapload compared to what you paid.

Rachel Our signal boosters are CE, ISO; RoHS certified. We have been operating for many years and never had any issue or requests by authorities

Me: they're still illegal, they can cause interference

Rachel They cannot, because the power gain of each booster is less 75db

I pointed out that was linked to a government website and they were still illegal and "Rachel" seemed to go quiet.

@crusader2015 Ignore the advice of these old fuddy-duddies. You can't get a good signal without breaking a few "laws" for whatever those are worth.

My advice is to buy yourself a 100m long pole. If you can't get one from Mitre10 or bunnings, I find it's easier to join together 20 or so 5m poles with some sticky tape. Make sure you use the Waterproof sticky tape otherwise if it rains your pole can fall down.

Get one of those old wire coathangers and then sticky tape, or if you've got some, cable tie the coathanger to the top of the pole. Then get some speaker wire and stick it onto the coathanger.

Stick your ~~lightening rod~~ antenna up in the air. You might need to get a friend to help you because a 100metre stickytaped pole can be a bit unwieldy sometimes. It also pays to do it in the dead of the night, so that any neighbours/annoying RSM "inspectors" who question you can be told that "It just appeared there last night mate, wasn't me"

Almost ready to go! Stick the other end of the speakwire into one of the holes on your Mobile Booster. Doesn't really matter which hole, just somewhere near the one probably marked "Antenna" and not near the "totally un-isolated chinese-made power supply in here" hole.

Pray.

Turn it on.

What happens next may surprise you.

Wow @muppet that works really well, my cellphone here in Putaruru is picking up it's signal from a cellphone tower somewhere near Christchurch !!
