Hi does anyone know of a good mobile booster installer in Christchirch?
I already have the booster, just want aerial install and setup etc. thanks

those "boosters" are not legal in nz, despite what the site would imply.

@crusader2015 If you power up this unit you are breaking the law! Do not get it installed and return the unit to the supplier for a refund

The only approved RF Amps are installed by Vodafone (Downers) and the only other option is Vodafone Sure Signal

If you want a legal, Vodafone "booster" then you want the Vodafone SureSignal.

Then it must be something else stopping the Sure Signal unit from working

Did you get an official VodafoneNZ provided Sure Signal?

Who is your ISP provider? Sounds like you need to log a job with VodafoneNZ and make sure the IP address range is in the Vodafone Sure Signal white list IP range

It is a general expectation these days that your mobile phone will work satisfactorily almost everywhere. If your home, workplace or vehicle does have poor coverage, you may decide to search online for solutions and find yourself at a website offering mobile boosters or repeaters to cure the problem.

Many of these devices can cause interference and dropped calls across the wider cellular network. This is why network operator approval is essential for the installation and operation of such equipment.

If approval is not given, the equipment is then not authorised by the required licence. The user of unlicensed equipment is subject to infringement offence penalties and possible prosecution. If interference is caused, it may also result in a damages claim from the network operator.

Overseas web sites such as www.mobilephonesignalbooster.co.nz, www.signalbooster.co.nz and www.mobilebooster.co.nz give the impression of being a New Zealand site and suggest their products are approved for use in New Zealand by the service providers, Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees. This is not the case.

Careful study of the “Conditions” on these websites may find a disclaimer to the effect that “Using this equipment may require a licence. It’s your own responsibility to check with the governmental authority having jurisdiction prior to use… “ etc.

If you are having coverage problems with your mobile service, always check with your service provider for one of the approved solutions.

You might get a visit from the police and be fined if using illegal/unlicensed radio equipment in New Zealand.

Patients is key to setting up them...

They take ages on first connect. Bloody annoying... makes you think it wont work.

If your network is unable to support a suresignal device, you may need to discuss with vodafone having them install one of their boosters, all the installation is done by downers and with gear that doesnt cause interference (unlike the ones you have purchased)

I really wish those sites would be taken offline, It's so missleading and lands genuine customers in a false sense of security...

In what way didnt the suresignal work?

I have one that I used at my old place before I moved house in december, the old house was in a reception black hole. The sure signal provided a 3g only reception via my broadband connection. It worked fine for me, but it bothered me that it was open to all vodafone users so all my direct neighbours benefited from my internet connection and the suresignal device....I couldnt local it down to specific users or handsets.

Vodafone can if you ask the right person, They will lock the unit to certain IMSI's only (Not IMEI)

Thanks useful info. I did get the Suresignal devices through Vodafone. They replaced them twice so I had a total of three unit. Still never improved the reception and decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of contacting them again.
Yes I agree those websites look like they are local, using .co.nz too and you select one of our NZ providers. Heaps of reviews from people who have bought them and set up successfully as well.
