And replace them with what??

If you have a faith or not remember "Every person has the right to manifest that person's religion or belief in worship, observance, practice, or teaching, either individually or in community with others, and either in public or in private."  and every person has the right to live "without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status."

As long as they conduct themselves in a manner that does not impinge others rights and wellbeing they should not be subject generalisations and prejudice. Yes there has been some groups that have not acted within the rules for covid-19 but that does not mean all groups have. Lets keep that in mind and remember that here on Geekzone and Aotearoa in general there are folks of many faiths so in the words of our PM lets be kind.

How about this version - Since it has now been made abundantly clear that group scrumming does not prevent Covid 19, is it not time to wind up the rugby?

This is far too big a subject to be discussed here, but I cannot let your unfortunate comment pass completely unchallenged.

Every single religion I know of, even Buddhism, has indulged in homicidal excess at some point, and in most cases it hasn't been all that long ago. All of them indulge in gross intolerance of opposing beliefs. Those who profess some kind of 'religious' conviction are given far too much credence by official agencies. One result of this has been years and years of systematic winked-at child abuse by so-called 'holy' types in America, Great Britain, Australia, here, and elsewhere. This could only happen because of the special spiritual status claimed by these predators and the organisations that protected them.

The truth is, simply by virtue of belonging to a religion, those who do invariably conduct themselves in a manner that impinges on the rights and well-being of other members of society. Religions claim all kinds of special privileges and exemptions. Any self-appointed group with a secret hot line to god can go off and live in splendid isolation, unmolested by police or any regulatory agency, and only emerge when demanding another 'religious' subsidy, special right, or tax exemption.

True believers are convinced they are special people with special knowledge, and that gives them special rights, like the right to ignore medical advice and legal requirements in order to gather in groups to pray because their superstition overrules every other consideration. Whatever their belief and their excuse, they are ignorant, arrogant, and stupid and perfectly content to jeopardise the health and financial well-being of the entire country to serve their own selfish purpose. That is religion and because of the damage it does it fully deserves to be subjected to generalisations and prejudice.

I distinguish between religion and belief. Everyone has the right to believe whatever they want to. That does not give them the right to be treated with special reverence or to form annoying groups that insist on invading my privacy and banging on my door every time a Saturday rolls around.

@Rikkitic Remember bigotry takes many forms, think about it. I am not going to engage further with you on this.

My wife's church tried that but it was technologically challenged with the older members.

A friend of mine has been doing his services for his congregation with Zoom for some time now and he has a lot of older members. He just did some training sessions and I managed to get hold of some laptops for members that couldn't afford a PC.

A apologise for my tongue in cheek remark implying that church meetings have been more effective than 5G in spreading the Covid virus have derailed this thread.

Ha!
Billy TK and the other True Believers know that stuff is just Fake News, Disinformation and Propaganga put out by the operatives of Deep State to lull the uniformed masses of sheeple into passive acceptance of the Evil Products of Bill Gates and the Cabal of Child Molesters. They won't even bother reading it, there's no need and anyway the Truth is right there in their Facebook & Instagram feed
😭😭😭
