I'm using an Asus ADSL wireless router which my pc connects to via a TPLink W620g usb adaptor. The signal has to (naturally) pass through a wall to communicate with the router, which is less than half a meter away on the other side. Signal strength is almost always 100% (as one think it should be) but for reasons unknown to me my connection will randomly go dead for short or long periods of time. Last night, for example around 3:15am I got booted out of a game and could not reconnect. The little icon with the two monitors had no activity, occasionally one would blink then the other, then nothing. I wasted over half an hour restarting the router and my pc, unplugging the usb adaptor..

...If it were an incorrect setting I would expect it not to work at all, why do you suppose it works well sometimes and not others?
