Hey guys, I am looking for a new phone provider, I was with vodafone prepay, I usually use txt and occsionally call people, I dont mind paying for my calls and what I use but what bothers me the most is the prepay plans like on supa prepay you get 2500 txts and some air time and other stuff, however it runs out the following month. so whatever I have left I cant use the following month unless I top up or pay for another cycle.

I dont top up every month and use about 500 o so txts a month so was looking for a better plan, you know so I get to keep what I dont use. like I buy 2500 txts I dont want it to expire the next month, I want it to continue until I have used up what I paid for. I am not going to top it up every month, since its a personal phone, I already have a mobile from work which they cover. so anyway. got any bright ideas? should I get a 2deg sim? any plans and stuff that dont require me topping up every month while being able to keep my txts and air time?

yea, I saw that but it doesn't continue till the next month, it will run out regardless if I use the whole thing or not in 30 days Frown

Vodafone freebies only suits someone who likes the occaisonal boost to their plan imo, if you're going to spend $20 a month anyway to get the freebies, you may as well go on a $19 combo. edit: if you want data that is, for minutes FreebeeTalk offers more overall, see posts below.

For your usage, the cheapest you can get is $10 a month from 2degrees for texts to all networks. Nothing exists that does what you're after with your level of usage. You can use credit at the standard prepay rates of 39-49c per minute and 9-20 cents per text but this is very poor value for anything more than occasional usage.

If you don't want to top up every month it's quite simple, put more credit on it in one go. Put $30 on and that's three months sorted.

But your Prepay balance is still $20 at the end of 30 days which you can then use for calls an SMS over the following 30 days

^Which is
40 minutes of national calls
OR
166 national texts
OR
20 days of $1 for 10mb per day data

or a combination of the above, in addition to your 30 minutes and 2500 texts bonus from FreebeeTalk.

ah you are right, but am I able to purchase a new freebie bonus or some thing like that after it expires? with my existing credit?

l43a2: how about something like

http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/prepay/pricing/plus/value-packs/carryover-combo

but that runs out after 30 days? regardless if I  used it or not? and every $30 days I have to pay another $19.

$10 a month,  texts to all networks, sounds fair enough, which plan is that?

The $19 carryover combo carries over your unused minutes. Data and texts expire after 30 days however.

This is the $10 combo for "all you need" texts:

thanks exdee.

but I am getting more interested on the vodafone side now,

about this http://www.vodafone.co.nz/prepay-freebees/ is there a plan/prepay or postpaid or something like that that mimics the prepay freebees? lets say I go on a plan and pay X amount for similar services a month or whatever. I like to keep the option of calling somebody if I like on top of the texts.

You won't find anyone that does what you want. All the plans have txt's that expire after a month.
For minutes, only 2degree's does carry over minutes.

Why not sign up for 2degrees $19 prepay pack? Your minutes roll over and you get unlimited* txt's.

My vote is for 2degrees without even needing to contemplate it.

Superior network coverage where they have towers (based on my experiences in Tauranga and rural Waikato) and customer service that's 10 X better.
