Hello,
I am wondering if someone could tell what the coverage area would be for a 65 degree panel celltower antenna? I understand that at the 65 degree edge the signal will be half of the middle beam, I would like to know how far effective/usable coverage extends from the 65 degree, giving the total area the antenna can provide coverage to? Any advice appreciated, Cheers John.

You would need to look at the horizontal pattern of the antenna to find out. Typically 65 degree antennas are arranged in 3 sectors 120 degrees apart. The worst case scenario is if you are at 60 degrees (mid way between 2 sectors) then the signal could be down by about 10dB but still usable if you are close enough to the tower.

However there are many other factors at play. The antenna could have mechanical or electrical down tilt which would distort the standard pattern. Google "Kathrein" - they have some good info on this online.

Thanks Ross, appreciate that. I understand now. Is a little bit confusing of why they don't call it a 120 degree antenna instead of 65 though. Cheers John
