It is actually the same price as Skinny (once the 500mb pack gets put up to $8). You just get 10 more minutes per month. To be honest I'd prefer the simplicity + better coverage my phone on Skinny offers than that. Also, I pay $46 per month for unlimited minutes, texts and also 2.5gb data so thanks but no thanks.

Who here thinks having "The Warehouse Mobile" as your carrier is just erm, tacky?

I'm on a $19 a month Vodafone prepay. Send a couple of text a month, maybe 20 minutes of calls, and can survive with 500mb data , especially with rollover to cover a heavy usage month.

So I reckon I could pay $10 per month for this, $8 for the data, and the other $2 to cover the text/minutes used. So overall my annual spend goes from 12 x 19 to 12 x 10. $108 saving isnt really that important to me , but I'm sure $108 means more to lots of people.

but maybe if they threw in a Spark-style deal like 5gb/day when in the Warehouse store... they'd get more shoppers and more mobile users too?

I can imagine plenty of young 'casual' users downloading an iTunes movie or updating their Apps/ music collection 'for free' like this, especially as the Spark deal is only for bigger spenders!

Any customer currently on a $10 text pack with Voda/Spark/2D would do well to switch to this. They would still be spending $10/month but would get unlimited text plus 150 minutes of national calling.

Warehouse Mobile’s number range is 0284 and numbers can be ported from other providers. SIMs and handsets are available from all The Warehouse stores, and top ups will be available at normal outlets such as petrol stations and dairys.

 

Really slick with their marketing but the minimum spend is still $10 per month. No other prepay provider here in NZ requires a minimum monthly spend.

For a $20 topup you could get 1gb data (2gb during the promo), and $4 credit left over to use on up to 200 texts or 100 minutes. An appealing option for those who just want data and don't need much calling or texts.

Interesting pricing, will have to go grab a sim for my Pocket Wifi. Will be handy when traveling for casual data.

PhantomNVD: Here's hoping it at least shakes up the market and allows the selective choice of WHAT packs the customer wants/needs. I have no issue paying $19/m to 2D and fully appreciate the extra 500mb 'bonus' I get for being a long term customer, but still feel the 800+rollover minutes accumulated at (90mins/month) show how little use I have for minutes...

I still feel that a choose-your-own-pack combo like this Warehouse one is the way forward. Set whatever price the actual elements cost (like they have done) and allow the end user the option to choose where their money goes!

All this warehouse deal is missing is the rollover concept. Sometimes I use lots more than other times, at least let the data/minutes last three months or so...?

In real world terms my 1gb data and unlimited text cost $1 more than what the WH are offering after their entry deal, so no big deal, but still a valid idea...

I expect that the 2D (/etc) $19 packs are priced with the expectation that you will use lots of one item and less of the rest.  I'd prefer that to "oh, which one will I choose, oh poo, now I need to call but I got a pack without minutes."  My usage easily fits inside a $19 pack and the carryover minutes and data provide a nice buffer -- I don't worry about the cost of making a call or using data.

I'm on their Flexi Prepay. Pay $35 one month for 3GB of carryover data (plus 50 min talk, 50 texts). Then $11 per 28 days for 100Mb, 50+50. I use the original 3GB carryover data to keep me going.
