Hi anyone willing to read.

As mentioned in an earlier post I have setup a wireless connection which has good speed but was wondering if I was to setup an external type Antenna for the Huawei 315s

what type would we recommend. I dont believe it would need to be to high gain as the signal is sitting on about 3 bars but I would prefer to have the signal coming from an external source

if possible. I have looked at these type here but I was wondering how to setup as the manual is a bit vague for setting up external. Obviously I would need some coax to get from the study to

the rooftop and then I believe the modem has an N type connection on the back. So if there is one wire coming in is there a preference for which one to connect to or would I need a MiMo two

wire type antenna? I have access to a great workshop and tools but have been unable to get any real plans to DIY. The type we are looking at is the 700 Mhz band I take it with the current speed we are getting.

The other issue I suppose is the direction for best signal, I have an idea on the location of the tower but being a directional antenna I would like to find a better way to find the tower's exact location.

Anyway any assistance is greatly appreciated

Regards .... Dean

Here's the cable: http://www.gowifi.co.nz/coax-cable-sma/n-male-to-sma-male-10-metre-pigtail.html?keyword=RBI
For best performance, get 2 of each and mount antennas on apposing 45 degree angles.

Coffee Baron that sounds great re the two Antenna's but wanted to keep the cost down a bit. If I was to connect just the one I have seen elsewhere on the forum to connect just to the left side output on the Huawei is that correct?

I was never able to get that to work and I still don't know why. When I first got the second yagi (both identical, both the recommended type) I tried mounting them the way you recommend. This gave me only small improvement over the single antenna. I tried every possible variation, with the antennas angled towards and away from each other and at different heights and horizontal locations. Nothing made any difference. I finally gave up and just mounted them one above the other, both straight up vertically oriented. When I did that my average download speed at the time shot up from around 30 mbps to 50 mbps. I was never able to get a result even close to that with the recommended LTE configuration.

It is the wideband yagi ANT0627Y11 that is standard for 4G outdoor RBI installations. I got one when my RBI was upgraded to 4G. The second one I actually bought from Australia because I couldn't find any stock in NZ when I wanted it.

Hey Aussie Dean,

I have a similar issue here in Tauranga NZ. We live rural with a 4G Spark (ex-Telecom) and a Huawei 315S modem. Looking for a cheap-ish antenna(e) solution. I am getting different solutions depending who I am speaking to, but it seems to involve twin MIMOs.

I am looking for something perhaps on the desktop or mountable on the window.

What did you actually end up doing and how well is it working?

Thanks,

Pat

Hi there

I setup Mimo antennas thru https://www.gowifi.co.nz

Best idea ever ...speed increase was very good..

https://www.gowifi.co.nz/antennas-1700-2300/ant-205.html

This one covers multiple frequencies.

You will need cable wallplates etc.
