Hi first post!

Basically, as the title suggests. I want unlimited data, I’ve got a B525 from Vodafone, and a pay monthly Unlimited Mobile Plan. Can i put the sim card inside the modem and have unlimited data? (Yes i have the $15 hotspot add on)

Short answer no.
It's against T&Cs for starters, and yes they will know.

Is this for a fixed location? The soft cap at 22GB (slows downloads to 1.2mbps) means your internet will be pretty slow after the first few days of each month if used as a main connection...

Is it?

Only clause I could see that might prevent this is a ban on "machine to machine communication (including by using your SIM card in any other device)". But surely any internet access that is not directly user driven (say auto check email every 5mins) is machine to machine... The wording around "other device" doesn't reference the intended device for the plan. Higher up in the terms it mentions "using your device as a hotspot is prohibited unless the Hotspot add-on has been purchased" Given OP has purchase the add on, use as a hotspot is permitted, and it doesn't seem unreasonable that their device be a specialized hotspot rather than a phone.

Seems pretty clear T&C to me. You're putting your SIM card in another device - I'm not sure how you can possibly argue around that.

But yes you can swap your SIM and what you want to do will work.. For a short period of time.

Your data will be throttled after 22GB to slower speeds, and Vodafone will detect the IMEI swap and contact you to find out why you've swapped your SIM card and remind you you're breaking their T&C.

It would be cheaper to buy the $66 Skinny 30Gig plan and put it in your mobile WiFi device.
