I have a prepay account with 2Degrees that I pay once a year. I would like to port my number to Warehouse Mobile.

Do I need the 2Degrees account to be in credit to port my number, or can I wait until I have used all my credit?

You can port any time you like, but any credit on your old account (2Degrees in this case) will be a gift to them, you can't take it with you.
So the best time to port is when your pre-pay balance with the provider you are deserting is small, for a value of 'small' that is bearable to you.
