I just got my welcome letter and SIM card, rang to activate it and am now waiting on the porting confirmation text(s) to come from Vodafone.

LOL to the Vodafone ad just below your post when I logged on...

Seriously, though, are they running on Telecom's network? Vodafone? 3G? Their website is cryptic at the moment.

Black + White runs on Vodafone network. I posted before about Black + White in my blog.

I am not live on B+W because I never heard back from them when I applied for the beta.

So here I am, still in CDMA hell.

I'm live with B+W using my iPhone, haha. Was only on pre-paid with Vodafone prior.

Still says I'm on Vodafone's network, which I guess is half-true, but it certainly is B+W (777 doesn't work and I was able to setup voicemail by calling a 3-digit number that was new to me). Would be cooler if it actually said Black + White.

Mobile data doesn't work but I wasn't expecting it to, so no worries there. They offer data plans but I don't think I'll try them.

Called an 0800 number without any probs, receiving txts is all sweet, sending txts to 021 phones is fine, but I sent a couple to an 027 phone and they took three hours to get there. Dunno who's fault that is... But then I sent another one later and it was received instantly. Hmm.

For fun and chuckles I tried logging into Vodafone's site using my mobile number and password, but Vodafone couldn't find my registration details. Looks like it's either been wiped from their system, or is just disabled. Which makes sense, really, but I dunno if I'll be able to get them back... I tried registering on the site again with the mobile number, but at some point during this process is said the number was invalid. Pretty much as expected. I bet the prepay credit I had has been wiped, though.

I registered for info, they offered me the trial, but when I look at their plans compared to the one I'm on currently with Vodafone, there is no benefit in moving so I'm staying where I am for now.

Oh wait, I just changed my APN to B+W's and the Internet works, even though I'm not on a data plan... better contact them and ask about this! Guess that's why they call it beta testing ;)

I got my SIM in the mail yesterday and rang up around noon to get it ported.  My numbers is an 021, currently ported to 027.  I am still not connected and it is now 29 hours later.  They did call me 3 times yesterday and I have called them twice today, but still no success.

Does anyone know if there are issues porting the number once it has already been through one provider eg 021 to 027 to 028?  I guess since it is not done now, it won't be done till Monday.

BTW, and off topic, the plans are expensive, but hoping with our feedback (as we are beta testers) we can influence the pricing and plan setups.

Got my SIM today. Rang and activated it and got my first text about porting. The porting process is still in progress it seems becuase calls are still coming through to my Telecom phone, however my SIM now registeres and I can call out off it and the call comes from my 027 number.

Has anyone created a "new connection" with B&W? I'm currently on Voda and have been invited to the beta testing however am reluctant to port my 021 number at present because they can't tell me whether I can remain part of a Vodafone family group and for people to still have me as a Vodafone BestMate which we use a hell of a lot. I have two handsets though and would be interested in trying out B&W given that it won't really cost me so wondered if anyone has created a new connection without porting their number? The signup process seems to indicate that you could?

I also had reservations, but I did have an now relatively unused 027 number and a spare GSM phone so I have ported the 027 number over to give it a go without touching my main Vodafone connection.

My number port hasnt fully gone thorugh yet but so far I am yet to see any benefit over Vodafone (or Telecom) for me so I will likely port the number back to the CDMA handset its coming from at the end of the Beta programme.

I don't believe they are signing up customers with new connections as part of the Beta programme.

My understanding was a port is required.

I have been told by B+W that BestMate, Family etc all works fine as do Vodafone "on-net" minutes ie those included in the MotorMouth plan. This was my only initial reservation too but they have said all is good.

I've been ported successfully and can receive text messages and make calls, but I am unable to send texts. I need the b+w message center number, as I currently only have the vodafone one. If anyone knows what the number is that I need to use, can you pm me with it please :)

Thanks

Hervard: PM'd/emailed you, benny.

I need the number to the sms message centre. Vodafone's one is +6421600600, but I can no longer use that. I'm using a Nokia, so I guess other phones don't need to change this number.

Thanks for the help though Hervard.
