I maintain a gallery with photos of cell sites around NZ and the world.

I'm setting up this thread so I can post updates whenever I add photos.

I was in two minds whether to do this thread or not given these attacks... I'll see if there is any positive interest here. May ask for this thread to be deleted if not.

Would you be open to accepting photos from other users? I would imagine the gallery would populate fairly fast.

Sure thing that would be awesome. Suggest dropping the photos into a Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or similar (as long as I can easily export it out as a Zip) and sending the link to james@pole.net.nz.

I've got a couple of photos of the towers on top of Mt Pauanui if you would like them.

Interesting observations:-

  1. Vodafone is relocating their Symonds Street site a few doors down. There they will join 2degrees and Spark. (photo, new site on left, old site on right)
  2. Some lovely artwork on 2degrees (left) and Vodafone (right) cabinets at Bond Street Overbridge. (photo)
  3. 2degrees have been replacing antenna panels at several sites including Manukau Junction. I believe the new ones are 700 MHz (Band 28) capable. (photo)
  4. First photo I have of both Vodafone (centre) and Spark (right) 3500 Mhz antennas for 5G at St Marys Bay. (photo)

[Edit: Added Christchurch.]

Need some of the stealth ones to surprise people how hidden some are :) Traditionally the first ones to go up with Telecom/Spark in the day. Resource consent relaxed since and many more beside them now.

Christchurch:

Clock / Sign tower at Bishopdale

Tower at Railway crossing on Wairakei Road near Z

There use to be, and maybe still - Fake Chimneys on historic buildings

Early in the day of the Casino many were covered up or masked as chimneys etc to give it a better location appearance to high rollers

I think 2degrees are slowly upgrading their Gen 1 sites, I was in Auckland recently and noticed their tower on the corner of Tristram Ave & Forrest Hill Road had new antennas (plus some new boxes under them) as well as a new control box next to it
