Does anyone know why it "seems" that voice quality improves when wifi disabled - at least on my iPhone.

This was mentioned to me recently so I tried it on a couple of calls .. the sound fidelity for both parties of the call improved when either one disables wifi, and further improves for both parties when both device wifi's are disabled.

Just wondering if there is any science involved?

@Foiler I suspect you are on 2degrees and the calls are going over Wi-Fi calling, You can turn off Wi-Fi calling in the menu of the iPhone

I have noticed if Wi-Fi signal is poor the quality of Wi-Fi calls are not the best

Lossly path over wireless? wireless congestion? there are quite a few reasons wifi can often be worse for voice.

.. maybe the question wasn't clear .. the observation is that a 3G voice call in progress noticeably changes quality as wifi is disabled .. seems strange that wifi has anything to do with the call which is not dependent on or using the wifi?

Right, that wasn't overly clear :)

I'd suspect @gajan might have some wise words.

quite a few phones share antennas for both WiFi and Cellular though, you likely are seeing a scheduler or interference of these two transmissions?

There does seem to be some confusion in this thread.

You said you weren’t using 2talk when the question is if you were using 2degrees.

If you are a 2degrees customer, as suggested, try turning off wifi calling.
