I'm getting a new car soon and one of the cool features is the ability to remote control/link the car from a phone app. However, this requires a sim to be installed in the car. I don't envisage much data usage, other than some commands to turn the lights on and off, opening the boot, etc. until the novelty wears off.  Is just a standard prepay plan the way to go, or are there more appropriate options for this situation?

If you’re on a 2degress on-account plan you can share your data to up to 5 different numbers for free. This number you share to can also be a prepaid number and doesn’t need topping up (sim doesn’t expire as long as you’re sharing to it).

Solved! I am indeed on a 2degrees on-account plan, but I didn't know about the ability to share data. Thanks for that.

Does your car support Apple CarPlay or the Android equivalent? If so, just connect the phone, and use the phone sim without the need for another one.
