Hi,

I'm looking at signing my folks up to the VF Gold 60GB wireless plan. They are on the edge of good coverage area so wanted to buy a used B618 modem to avoid the 12 month sign up. Figure I can resell the modem if connectivity is too unreliable.
What I'd like to know is if the Spark supplied B618 is locked to the sim or network in any fashion? Vodafone have confirmed the B618 is compatible and they can send out a new SIM.

Any advice appreciated.

Prior models like B315 were not locked. I'm fairly certain that the Spark B618 isn't either. You won't be able to remove the branding in the portal, but that shouldn't really matter. For what it's worth if you ever decide to move back, neither Spark nor Skinny will send a SIM like you have described. You have to buy a whole new B618 (stupid).

OK, thanks for the input. It seems like they do try and make it as difficult as possible!
