Hi I am just curious to know. Re: non IT lots, some people tend to get larger data size monthly plans. What are those typical uses? 🤔

For myself and others I know we are generally at home, at work, or at school which has WiFi so our usage isn't that large. With less travelling this year also need to find a way to use up more of my carry over data.

I used to when in a role that involved a lot of client visits, using mobile for hotspotting for demos etc, couldn't always expect to get on to their wifi networks etc

The question was what do people use their large amounts of data for(for non IT people only).

I use my 15GB from Kogan Mobile for hot spotting if I take my laptop outside of my apartment for writing up documents(avid google docs user here) and music streaming via Deezer. Sometimes I also need to pull or push files via my Syncthing server at home from my laptop so the large amount of data is handy.

And in the very unlikely event our fibre service goes down well 15GB is enough for me personally to stay connected through some light usage.

I do actually use around 7-10GB every month so getting the most out of it.

The ones I know myself are under 30 or under 25yrs of age. I know their parents and their kids. I was thinking along the lines ..... Going outside to work on their school / uni work with a laptop or just consume videos off their laptop at the coffee shop .... I was just a bit surprised that they have like 12+GB of data a month.

When I was allowed outside, I used to commute to work and stream Netflix etc.

Now, not so much, but I do stream "lossless" audio, so it uses a fair amount of data if I get away from the home wifi

I use it to stream the 1pm Jacinda and Ashley show if I happen to be away from home at that time of the day.

Sync services & auto update enabled on smartphones, which is the default setting. At least for my clients who are all over 45, can't speak for the younger crowd.

Upload photos and videos to cloud, stream music when driving, facebook twitter instagram scrolling, fowarding emails around with PDF files. Things like that.

Probably worth mentioning (again in my experience) that it's common for sales staff at Mobile Hubs even Business Hubs to place customers on the most expensive mobile plan available, regardless.

Ask a crowd of older users what their cellphone bill is every month...most won't have a clue.
