Hi,

I am on Wireless Nation broadband that uses the Spark network. I am about to set up the B818 modem and see on the HUACtrl app that the band can be set manually (B40, B28, B8, B7, B3, B1). Should I leave the band as Atomatic or am i better to lock it down to one of the newer bands?

Thanks

Leave it as automatic for sure if you are having no issues. Let the network control which band it uses when moving data or just camping

Thanks for your input.

I forgot to mention this is for a fixed location (Rural Broadband) setting, not campervan. Does that change anything?

That modem is CA capable, so locking down to a single band woud reduce perfomance. To maximise perfomance you will want an external MIMO antenna installed.

Thanks for your input. Is there a particular MIMO antenna one should go for?

Hi,

Picking up this thread as I am on the Spark network as well (via Wireless Nation) and using the B818 modem. I believe I am about 4.3km from the Tower.... sometimes the modem connects to band 1, 3 or 7 (ping 20ms) but quickly reverts to band 28 (ping 31ms). During daytime, my speeds up/down can get up to about 38mbps. In the evening it tends to reduce to just over 10mpbs.

My question is. Would an external antenna improve my connection?

Currently the speed on band 1, 3 or 7 is slower than on band 28..... ping is better though
