I bought a 4g trailcam that I want to get going.

It requires a sim. Obviously no need for voice or SMS, just data. Is warehouse mobile my best bet?

I live rurally. My phone says it is getting 5g, but only 1 bar on 2degrees. So an idea of which provider is actually carrying the data may be handy.

Thanks for any answers.

Nick.

Clearly 2degrees is carrying the data why would you think another provider is? National roaming was turned off years ago between 2degrees & VodafoneNZ and this only included 2G GSM & 3G / wcdma

If you are a Pay monthly customer on 2degrees then setup data sharing to a prepaid connection / SIM

https://www.2degrees.nz/help/mobile-help/sharing/shared-data

Under network settings on your mobile phone lock it to 4G / LTE and see what the signal is like

He was asking for recommendations, so likely wanted to know what network a recommended MVNO is using.

Just be aware that with warehouse mobile, they decided that passwords were too hard for their stupid target audience, so the only way to get into manage you account is to get a SMS sent to you.

Whats your balance? No F-ing idea without pulling the sim card, sticking it into a phone and then getting the SMSed code to put in the website. Totally makes it a worthless service for this sort of use case, or kids, or elders, or anywhere you need to see what you have in it at any time.

If the OP is on Pay Monthly with 2degrees pick up a $1 prepaid 2degrees SIM and share data to it from your pay monthly plan

Check band support on the trailcam because many of them are using pretty cheap LTE modules with limited bands.

They (warehouse mobile) have an app since April 2025. FYI

It was a joke before that as richms says.
