Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd bump this old one that I started a few years ago.
We've had Fibre (with Vodafone) for 1.5 years now, no issues at all.
We've just this month changed our package to 100mbs unlimited for $100.99 a month. That includes a charge of $10 per month for the land line phone number.
Question: is it even worth porting the land line number over to voip? I checked on Trademe and I can get a Linksys SPA2102 for $45 + $7 postage, total of $52. How much is the charge to use voip a month typically?

The cheapest I know of is 2talk's $6.9/month plan for 1 phone number and 2000 minutes of local calls.

Given you're with Voda fibre, are you potentially running their standard Huawei HG659 router? It's just that that model supports VOIP fine.
An advantage of moving over to VOIP from a second provider such as 2Talk is then you're no longer beholden to stick with a bells-and-whistles company, eg we have 100/30 unlimited from BigPipe for $79 plus $6.90 for 2Talk VOIP, so a total of $85.90 compared to the $101 you're paying with Vodafone. (Plus the benefit of not having to do business with the worst company I've ever dealt with!).
