We are seeing a number of 2Talk issues over the last 6 months - not getting better either.

Using either Cisco or Linksys SIP boxes or 3CX boxes or SIP enabled phones. - Phone calls drop, phone calls ring once then drop, phone calls dont ring, phone calls you answer you hear dial tone but other person can hear you. We also wait for 10 - 20 seconds at times to get dial tome when dialing out.

This is being experienced in Chch, Rolleston, Leeston, Riccarton. on ADSL and fibre connections across 2Talk provided ADSL, Snap / 2Degrees ADSL and Fibre, Spark ADSL and Fibre.

Restarting devices occasionally works for a short time, nothing fixes the issue long term.

It is possible 2Talk are having internal issues.

We've got many clients on 2talk, as well as ourselves, and we're not seeing any of those issues.
95% of them are on NorthPower fibre, and all with UberGroup, our local ISP.
We have one or two on Ubergroup's wireless internet, as they are rural, and one or two on ADSL or VDSL with different ISPs.
Myself at home am with Slingshot naked ADSL, and use an old Linksys ATA for the phone and have no issues.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Do you have common hardware such as routers? Some of these such as delays to get a dial tone are faults that can't really be caused by a VoIP provider.

Using a Cisco SPA112  at home.
Using Linksys SPA at work
Clients using SIP phones or similar
Clients using 3CX server hosted on PC>

The slow dial tone for outward can be the SPA - agreed however the external people ringing and going straight to voice mail, the long times when external calls ringing inward taking to start ringing, getting one ring at home then disconnect, same at office and other people in other locations.

Its typical for the phone to ring, we pick it up - nobody on other end - they say it rang three times then went to voicemail.  I've used 2Talk for quite a number of years and the last 6 months have been very very very painful.

We did look at issues of NATTING, double NATTING etc. We hooked phones into Netcomm sip capable routers, tried running sip softphone on fibre network. etc etc etc. We have really lost confidence in the system.

I don't use or support 2talk for a number of reasons that aren't relevant to this thread - but each and every one of those issues above are statistically more likely to be network related rather than 2talk related.

The external client ringing in - not getting through -that's nothing to do with our networks.  Three rings or less - yet we have 30 seconds or more of ringing / diverts.

On an almost daily basis (generally 3 or 4 a week) I install a new pabx (Samsung OfficeServ) with 2talk SIP trunks and see none of those issues.

Connections are ADSL, VDSL and fibre.

Every customer gets one of our routers (Mikrotik) that we manage. We won't put in SIP trunks unless they use our broadband connection or our router. It's just too important to leave the routing up to chance.

Mine on my fritz box works every time I have needed it to. Sure, might be missing some incoming calls but they are calling the landline number so seldom important.

Um why?

Incoming calls not getting through.
Multiple differnt types of devices (microtik, fritzbox, netcomm)
multiple network types (ADSL, VDSL, fibre)
Differing types of sip box (cisco, Linksyss, 3cx serfvers)
differing ISPs (2 x 2talk, 1 x netspeed, 2 x 2Talk )

Really shoddy jitter and external pings being dropped - traceroutes all over the place, massive range of speed test results and less than 50% utilisation of physical DSL signals.
