No - I have this setting enabled.

Are you guys using pan.wxnz.net or as.wxcnz.net? or both?

I am using the host=pan.wxnz.net value but I also noticed this entry: fromdomain=as.wxcnz.net, which looks like a potential problem point!

I have no entry for 'qualify' so mine is presumably set to the Trixbox default.

I will leave the host= and fromdomain= value as they are (for the time being) after speaking with one of the tech support team earlier today, who made a change which allowed an immediate registration.

I'm wondering if an entry to the host files for pan.wxnz.net would make any difference.

My issues started when I added another VFX trunk - with the new settings (pan). Also switching between as & pan for troubleshooting seemed to also cause a few issues. Tried my working original trunk with the pan settings, did not register; then when I changed it back to as, it did not work either. Had to have my registrations cleared at WxC before any successful registration.

@coffeebaron: Clearing the registrations is what resolved my issues this morning. I am not sure how creating a Host entry for the DNS names will help. Clearly the DNS resolution is not an issue because my other trunks are registering fine and their DNS names are not recorded in the Host file either.

I am wondering now if this is related solely to the clearing of registrations at the SIP provider. Perhaps that is a house keeping function that needs to happen more frequently.

Edit: You know, the more I think about it, this issue has really only arisen lately. For ages my VFX trunk as been very stable. I am not sure if the instability has occured since updating the host= entry to use as rather than pan. I wonder if it would be worthwhile swapping back to pan for a while.

I too have noticed this issue as of late. I thought it was just me until I read theses posts.
I also have maxexpirey = 180 and defaultexpirey = 180 set.

It would be good to know what is going on!

A session border controller is a device used in some Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks to exert control over the signaling and usually also the media streams involved in setting up, conducting, and tearing down telephone calls or other interactive media communications.

Within the context of VoIP, the term session refers to a call. Each call consists of one or more call signaling message exchanges that control the call, and one or more call media streams which carry the call's audio, video, or other data along with information of call statistics and quality. Together, these streams make up a session. It is the job of a session border controller to exert influence over the data flows of sessions.

The term border refers to a point of demarcation between one part of a network and another. As a simple example, at the edge of a corporate network, a firewall demarcs the local network (inside the corporation) from the rest of the Internet (outside the corporation). A more complex example is that of a large corporation where different departments have security needs for each location and perhaps for each kind of data. In this case, filtering routers or other network elements are used to control the flow of data streams. It is the job of a session border controller to assist policy administrators in managing the flow of session data across these borders.

The term controller refers to the influence that session border controllers have on the data streams that comprise Sessions, as they traverse borders between one part of a network and another. Additionally, session border controllers often provide measurement, access control, and data conversion facilities for the calls they control.

A quick update to the Trixbox terminated unregistered VFX trunk. After WxC cleared the registrations on Wednesday, the trunk registration has been rock solid - has not dropped once. I will keep an eye on it but so far it looks good.

Hmmmm - odd. Mine has been stable like wise from yesterday when I wrote my post.
I wonder if it magically fixed it's self or something has been done at word exchange's end (or whether I'll be posting back in half a day say - oop's - no!!! :) )?

I've only had the issue happen 2 or 3 times in the 18 odd months I've been with VFX. Where you guys finding this happening on a regular basis?

No, for me the VFX trunk has been stable for a long time - months. Perhaps the odd unregistration but very few of them. It just got really unstable recently i.e. within the last maybe two or three weeks. Since speaking with their tech last Wednesday and he clearing the registrations it has been very stable again.

A bit late but I had exactly the same problem around the same time... could make outbound calls but inbound was dead.

A restart of asterisk fixed it temporarily only to happen again a day or so later I hadn't changed anything before the problem or since for that matter it resolved itself.
