I have used them for 6 months and I find them to be fantastic. Price, quality of service, support. I used another service for a while and it was a poor comparison. No complaints from me.

I have experience only with vodafone and I can say is very good. Maybe your hardware broken, the microphone or something.. Try to use the line with another phone and compare the situations.

thanks, i feel that it has improved recently. What codecs are you
using for 2talk? Also what plan r u on with voda?

I am not using 2talk, only vodafone. I use pay monthly for my mobile and I am satisfied. I also have vodafone for my home number and is ok as well :)

I use vodafone for mobile/home phone as well. but this topic is for VOIP which I use for calling overseas. Calling from vodafone would cost me 8-9 times more.

I am useing 2Talk with a PAP2T/DSL-G604T setup and voice quality is acceptable but I have problems with incoming calls, often caller can hear me but I cant hear them, sometimes incoming call does not ring etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
2Talk have said they have detected packet loss and are monitoring but nothing fixed yet.
Any suggestions on what I could do to get a more consistant service? I just set up the PAP2T using 2Talks online guide, are there other settings I should be looking at?

I use exactly the same setup,

2talk $15 plan
pap2t w/ 2 phone lines hard wired into house wiring
Maxnet 100gb naked DSL

And it is all working fine, although I do need to replace one of my corded phones as it is a crap $30 from the big red whare.

Have you tried a 'reset to factory' then redo all settings? Maybe it's your ISP? Who are they?

What else are you doing at the time ie downloading/torrents? Even a couple of people browsing can affect VOIP from my experience. I use VFX and found that I needed to dedicate some bandwidth to VOIP.
I did have the exact same thing. Sometimes we could not hear the person on the other end although I don't think we ever had calls not come in at all.

I agree, you definitely need a QOS enabled modem/router, to reserve some space for your VOIP. I have a SMC networks modem, and it came already set up for VOIP bandwidth provisioning. (I think the value is set at 10%).

Maybe that's your problem... Search google for your modem specs and see if has QOS

edit: I can download at 1.6-1.7MB/s and can still use both lines.

No, was not doing any downloading although computer would have been on when the problems occur.
What gets me is the random nature of the problem. The other day i had a call, couldnt hear anyone so i said "hang up and try again, I cant hear you." They rang back and everything was fine.
I dont think my modem has QOS and would replace it if I knew that would fix the problem. Any suggestions on a replacement, has to be wireless?

you dont have to be on wireless, PAP2T will connect via
Ethernet cable. I have taken some suggestions from the people
here and played with the codecs in the 2talk settings. If you read them,
it suggests to use particular codecs. I think my line has improved slighltly since.
I also changed my router and can see some improvement. It is not perfect but definitely much better

I would recommend to stick with G729a as the first choice codec, but try to optimise the settings for 1 frame per packet since they appear to have either latency or packet loss or some other problem on international calls. You might be able to experiment with some jitter settings on the PAP2 as well.

Time to find a new industry!
