Ok. I paid 10euro to a VoIP provider called VoIPCheap based in Germany. At te current conversion rate, it cost me 20NZD. I got 3 month free calling to 30 countries including NZ after paying that 10 euro. 1 euro cent per minute to landline, which is 2 cent NZD. 2 cents NZD when calling China. My caller ID is my Vodafone number, 2talk can't do that!. 20 cents NZD when calling a NZ mobile. I Have made more than 20 national calls, all of them were free of charge. I think this should be enough To persuade me to abandon 2talk for ever. :-)
besides, because it's a German company, you do expect it to be a quality voip provider, don't you? Of course. I had no dropped call when calling my auntie's china mobile tonight. I'm very happy now.
2talk is charging 0.035 cents a minute, which rounds up to 0.04 cents a minute, bloody 2talk! Now I only pay 0.02 cents a minute on voipcheap and I can ring Any Chinese number!! Yeah!!

I use it on my iPhone. I don't have a VoIP gateway. So I don't know. The only thing I care is that it gives me 3 month free calling to NZ. 2 cents a minute to China. The best of all, I use my iPhone to call, and don't pay for any expensive airtime minutes :-)

There should be some instructions on their website about how to set up a ATA. You can have a look there.

Forgot to tell you. I use iPhone app "groundwire" and "Bria" to make VoIP calls. And it works with my Bluetooth as well. On 3G umts, you better set the VoIP codec to GSM. on wifi, you set it to G.711. VoIPCheap doesn't have a iPhone app

Maybe your iPhone app is a zero configuration one. Try some generic VoIP app and see if it works or not.
I don't think you need to enter much information in your ata. Their support website here. http://www.voipcheap.com/en/sipp.html

Yeah I had the same issue for calls to China with 2talk but their local and AU calls are still pretty good. Best option is to use a different VOIP provider for calls to China, I see some people on the Chinese auctioning site are even offering China DDI numbers so people can call u back at no international call cost.

China ddi number. That's illegal I think! But anyway, I'm happy with VoIPCheap now, free international calls (inc NZ) for 3 month. And 2 cents a minute to china, that's as cheap as I can possibly get now. I will stick to this for now. And at least for the time being, I don't care about the NZ ddi number. 2talk's local number are cheap, so its no big deal here.
