Hi There!

We have VOIP configured at home and originally it was with 2talk and now with Conversant. Both systems exhibit the same very curious issue whereby numbers incoming have a leading zero. So instead of 09 3777777 it's displayed as 009 37777777 which means we can't select a number and dial it back again.

Both companies reported the number is being given to the ATA correctly, and both companies provisioned the ATA's automatically. We have both Panasonic and Uniden Cordless phones and the phones have actually been changed since the original problem occurred.

Anyone seen this?

ya, it's a standard feature of the phone to add a zero. Turn the feature off on the phone and the problem goes away.

Why would it do that? It didn't do it before VOIP. Do you know what the setting is called?

global set up thing iirc.  it's fairly obvious on the newer phones.

just work though the phone

it was doing it with the non voip...  the provider just wasn't sending the leading 0

Huh ? That makes no sense. Conversant are saying THEY are sending the right information (No leading 0)

Probably the ATA adds a 0 then your phone also adds a 0 :)

CID's in the POTS and ISDN don't include a 0, as it's an access code and not part of the number. Phones are required to add a 0 as part of the Telepermit spec, and in the vast majority of phones this can be enabled/disabled.

In the VoIP world the vast majority of IP phones have no such functionality, and sending the CID with a 0 included can make sense.

Thanks I found the setting, all fixed!
It's called "extra 0" and it's found under global settings > Line 1 and Line 2
