Hi,

I have an SPA 3000 on the way. I've read up how to use it with asterisk with the SPA-3000 and Asterisk on the same subnet ... BUT ... a thought has occurred to me ...

Can I get my SPA 3000 and * to talk to each other over the internet, or do they have to be on the same subnet?

For example, could I have my SPA 3000 at home and * at my office?

I have 3 reasons for doing this:

1. Geeking about.
2. There's nowhere in our small house I can put * without (a) it annoying the missus, (b) the children messing with it and (c) the cats doing what they do with it.
3. I want to make free outgoing local calls using the residential line rather than the business line, i.e. route calls from the office phone through to * to my home PSTN line.

Rob

There are no problems at all. The biggest hassle can just be dealing with NAT issues if Asterisk is behind a NAT firewall. Obviously having a static IP for the internet connection the Asterisk box is running off will make like easier however.
