I have loaded this app on to my Android fone and can make calls Ok.  Is this app like the Orcon one that will allow me to receive calls at the same time as my home ATA is connected??   I tried but no calls came to my fone..

You need to enable the One Number feature on your 2talk portal. Then on your soft phone log in with your normal details but append a -1 to the phone number.

Thanx for that . Worked like a charm over WiFi. Registration over 3G is a bit hit and miss though but once registered seems to have really good speech.. If it wasn't for the NZ Tech podcast last week I wouldn't have know this app existed. You need to publicize it more especially with Orcon doing the same thing :-)

I really don't know why Orcon is making such a big fuss over their app, 2talk have been doing
the same thing for years now, I think in their press release they even stated it was a NZ first.

This is just a branded SIP client. I've had SIP clients on my phones since the Symbian S60 days (Many years now).

Orcon's product is nothing particularly new or innovative, they are just the first to push it out to a wide market.

I can't see it being a good user experience tho. 3G is fine for SIP most of the time, but it's not reliable enough to be a commercial product, IMO.

The other problem is that for iOS users, with no dial integration or background registration - making and receiving calls it's all that good of an experience. One of the key reasons I don't want to go back to iPhone.

Be interesting to know how you get on with battery life, being registered all the time...

I have a SIP client registered on my phone 24/7. Probably drains my battery about 10% more than it would with it off, I reckon

That would similar to my findings with the 2Talk app..
