I'd like to record Skype calls (both audio-only + video) - I'm interested to hear from those who've done it:

  • what did you use?
  • where you pleased with the results?
  • would you recommend?
  • did you stay with that prog (cos it was good) or change (cos it wasn't so good)?
  • knowing what you know now, what would you look out for if you were starting all over again?
I'm looking for as high-quality as possible (if I need to send the other party a top-notch mic to do that, then that's possible).

TIA

Just don't use Skype.
Use a free alternative that offers free recording and better quality. Zoom.us is excellent with recording. 2talk videoconferencing is free and better.  Vsee does recording as well.

Predictions are hard to make. Especially when they are about the future.

I know a lot of the Americans i game with will only use skype where we kiwis would rather use Mumble or Teamspeak (screw listening to everyones background noise)

Maybe clownfish? or FRAPS? im just not sure if they record the audio

Virtual Audio Cable is probably the best option, the limited trial is free and the full version is reasonably priced

There are a few free open source alternatives too

@AllStar1 - thanks for these suggestions.  I haven't looked into these (yet).  I use Skype because I know it and just about everyone I know, knows about it too (a bit like there being superior video hosting channels to YouTube - everyone's heard of YT).

The alternative will only pose a problem if both parties to the call need to use the same platform.  I won't be asking clients to change their preferred supplier just cos I wanna chat with them.

@Lyderies - thanks I'll also check out your suggestions as well.   And yes - as per comments to AllStar1 above, Skype is the better known channel.

@Ragnor - thanks heaps - I'll check them out - this sounds more like what I'm looking for :-)
