I am trying to set up a gigaset A510 ip on VFX, but the settings have stopped working.

I had the phone working for inward and outward bound calls following a scan of topics covering the issues with non-supporting gigaset phones on VFX.  I eventually found an arrangement of the settings from the VFX email that allowed me to register.

Two days later with no changes my phone simply started reading registration failed and I cannot not reconnect.

Does anyone know what this issue is:

the WFC AuthUser = gigaset authentication name
WFX authPassword = gigaset authentication password

WFX userId = gigaset userName

I have tried both the authName and the username in the display name slot, I had the authname working but cannot register now.

Any ideas?

I see one error on your screenshot, the display name which shouldn't be the same as your auth name, it should be your phone number.

If this doesn't work, please flick me a PM with your phone number and I'll have a look from this end.

Regards,
Andrei.

Thanks

I have changed this to the number as suggested, but registration still fails.

I had it working for a day with the phone number as suggested, but registration simply failed after one day.

Cheers

Yeah the display name shouldn't stop the registration, but it was incorrect.

If you send me a message with your phone number I'm happy to check some of our tools and try to get to the bottom of it.

Regards.

wonder if the number has been black listed, have you tried to unregister and register your number, just a thought.

Do you have another live VFX number, e.g. on your main router that is also registering?

This is the only VOIP number I have and the only time I have experimented with the technology.

On blacklisting - how would this occur?

I only dialed two number to and from my cellphone to ensure the phone was working.  The number stopped working before I had time to make any further calls.

Can't see any registration attempts coming from your number in the last few hours, are you sure the device still has network connectivity ?

How do I check this.

The base is definitely logged into my modem as I can log into the gigaset setup in my Browser - screen shot above.

The issue appears to be with the base failing to register with VFX.

Is there something else I should be checking?

Not sure if the Gigaset has any connectivity diagnostics menu. If it does, try checking if you can ping from it to pan.wxnz.net . If that wont' work try pinging google's dns 8.8.8.8
If pinging the DNS ip address works but pan.wxnz.net doesn't, then it may be that your Gigaset  can't resolve the proxy's hostname, so try entering google's DNS servers manually on the device.

If you can't ping an outside ip at all, try rebooting the Gigaset if you haven't already and see if this helps.

sorry, meant to say your ip address may have been blacklisted, but wxc say they can not see registration attemps. is it behind Nat, I'm guessing yes, if so enable stun, but not sure what credentials you will need, maybe wxc can advise.

Don't need credentials for STUN, just stun.wxnz.net for the server address.

However I have not seen any registration attempts from the phone number, I can also search by ip address, so if you want to PM me your WAN IP I can run a search and see if your IP is trying to register anything at all.

Regards,
Andrei.

Did a bit more digging this morning.

The last register I saw from your IP was on the 1st, at 5:47AM , so unless your IP changed since, we haven't seen any more registration attempts since.
I'll PM you the IP i was looking at if you can confirm it's still valid.

Regards.

have you created a rule for wxc in your firewall? try disabling the firewall to see if that helps.

Doesn't sound like firewall issues as registrations aren't even being sent from your device - because I assume you have a consumer router so no outbound firewall.

I've gone right off the Gigaset's because they seem to just do weird things.

To start with though put an IP address in for the proxy (for me pan.wxnz.net resolves to 64.74.223.41) instead of the domain. That will rule out DNS issues.
