Hi,

So I have just installed asterisk on a spare machine to mess around and learning about voip. I have gotten it so I can call an extension and then play "Hello World!". What I would like to be able to do is call out with an extension and make it go through a 2talk account, as well if someone calls the 2talk account that it plays something. How would I go about doing this?

Buy a book and spend lots of time learn about Asterisk. There is no easy way.

I've been playing with Asterisk now for close to 10 years, but I'd estimate anybody with some IT knowledge could get the hang of it after 50 - 100 hours.

Do you want to learn Asterisk or about VoIP?

If you want to gain knowledge about VoIP and not worry about complex dial plans the FreePBX distro is what you want. Takes care of Asterisk for you and lets you just have a good play with a PABX and will let you learn plenty about VoIP. Learn some tcpdump filters (or just directly on wireshark) and you will see SIP in action.

Or trixbox? or one of the other ones. They're easy to use
