Hi I am currently looking at various IP-PBX and learning how to use them. I am happy with the connection to VOIP providers and setting up IP phones to connect to them etc. What I am looking at now is connecting the IP-PBX to the PSTN using a FXO gateway. (For failure over purposes, and just trying out the routing of calls, and for the IP-PBX to pick up the incoming PSTN calls as well).

What I was wondering is are there any FXO gateways for sale in New Zealand that come with a Telepermit, or have I missed some thing. (I have been looking around various websites but I can't seem to find any)

There are a number of brands available, the Patton's are probably the best bet right now.

is there any specific new zealand supply/distributer I need to talk to have a Patton with a Telepermit? Or am I getting to hung on on the need for the green sticker for a FXO gateway?

Snappernet are the NZ distributors and they have a lot of resellers.

A Telecom (or Choruspermit as it's now known) is legally required on any piece of hardware connected to the PSTN, or for any VoIP hardware (even if it's SIP) that is used to interconnect calls with the PSTN. Whether you choose to abide by the rules or not is like everything else in life.

If you haven't got an account at Snappernet then just shoot over to Nicegear

He has all the stuff you are after and can probably help with recommendations. I've only ever used the Atcom PCI card with Digium modules so not much help sorry.

yeastar make a good quality 4 fxo TA410 gateway.

Ive got an old linksys spa400 been in service for 5 years with no issues.

patton are good but expensive.
