Does anyone have a Cisco router running the IP SLA responder, or know of one running that I could ping every 5 minutes for a few weeks?
Switching our VoIP traffic from a dedicated ADSL connection across to UFB shared with the rest of our traffic shortly, and want to monitor if there is any change in call quality as a result.
Pretty cool system monitors the MoS etc.
Otherwise I might have to try setting up a faux one on a VPS

VoIP should be better on UFB because you've got the CIR you can use, at least for upstream traffic (unless you're using your ISP for VoIP in which case they're probably tagging their downstream VoIP already). This means it's not shared bandwidth.

Yeah that's what I thought too, unfortunately the plan we were going to go with have come back and said we can only use the low priority (with 2.5Mbps CIR) tag, which seems a real shame when there is high priority sitting there we could be using just for VoIP so that no other customers or traffic on the rest of our connection can impact the VoIP.
Instead with congestion voice packets will be discarded randomly when we've got Windows Updates flying in or something...

The 2.5Mbps will be your high priority CIR. The headline UFB speed is 100% EIR and has no CIR on it.

Packets shouldn't be discarded with the EIR, they however will be discarded with the CIR if you use it (which is exactly the way a CIR works)

They would still be randomly discarded if the connection was being maxed out wouldn't they? (or through congestion on the GPON port or congestion at the ISP handover)
Bitstream 3A connection (Education Plus plan, apparently a managed connection, with apparently greater control over special firewall and routing needs)
I was just really looking forward to be able to not have to worry at all about other traffic on our connection impacting on VoIP. Guess we would have to go with a more specialist business ISP to achieve that, just a shame not to offer it out of the box if requested.

I'm still a little confused, unless you have a custom plan all the base Bitstream plans (whether residential, business or educational) all support a CIR. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from using this for your upstream traffic with the correct 802.1p tags for your voice traffic.

Sorry I've probably been mixing my messages a bit. I'm really referring to getting the ISP to tag downstream traffic from SIP provider, as it seems you would be more likely to run into issues with downstream rather than upstream traffic. Like you say I think we should be able to tag the upstream traffic, but the consultant at Spark Digital specifically has said they are unable to make use of the high priority component on this plan.

EDIT: I've just spun up a Cisco CSR 1000V Cloud services router which appears to be able to function as an IP SLA responder, so will see if I can get some testing going against that.
