Hey Guys,
My parents SPA2102 has died (no power etc.) and just wanted to find out what the best model is to replace it with. They haven't used their home phone much recently but would like to.

They are on a managed WxC VFX service where WxC manages the device (which works well).

They are on CG-NAT with Unleash (Solarix) and I think inbound calls may have stopped working when they got this. Do inbound calls work behind CG-NAT and if not, what ATA will sup[port IPv6 to WxC as they have full IPv6 connectivity.

The last standalone ATA I used before moving to a combined solution was an SPA112 or SPA122 which I was very happy with, Used it for only 2 weeks before selling it due to receiving my FritzBox and moving to Snap VOIP.

Google shows me there is a new variant with DECT compatibility but I haven't heard anything about them and your still going to be limited to what the VOIP provider supports.

As for CG-NAT, I don't really know enough it to give a proper answer but my best guess is that its going to hinder any incoming IPv4 connectivity and trying to get stable IPv6 connectivity is like waiting for the stars to line up (Requiring full and stable support from all devices and providers involved)

If you want a fully supported solution your best option is still a Cisco ATA such as the 112.

Double NAT (which is really just what CG-NAT is) will typically break VoIP as it is simply not supposed to work in such an environment. There are some workarounds such as STUN that can help this, but it's not guaranteed.

BTW my first pick would be to get a new PSU for testing. I've replaced about 10 or so power supplies over the past few months all dating from the SPA2102 days (3+ years). It seems these don't have an infinite lifespan.

Considering the number of ATAs I've deployed I'd count these as one of the most reliable pieces of hardware on the planet. I've only ever seen a single one that's ever actually died.

I second the idea of trying a replacement power adapter. As mentioned, those old Linksys power adapters don't last as long as the devices that supply power to.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. I can confirm that after changing the power adapter we are all up and running! It event works fine behind CG-NAT!

One nat or many doesnt seem to matter for an ATA behind a nat already, but I wasnt able to get the one built into a cisco small business router with ata to work on CG Nat, as soon as got a bigpipe real IP address it started to work. I guess they dont build them to deal with nat in the same way that the ones made to go inside on a lan are.
