Yep it's down, looks like deep internal issue as external peering's are up

We are currently experiencing some network problems. Engineers are investigating. Updates to follow.

Their DNS has disappeared as well which seems to have happened during all outages over the past year or so.

I bet it was that Cisco core failing again ;-)

(I hear they are planning an upgrade for their core to Juniper equipment)

It's interesting that sbiddle noted their DNS was down again during this outage. They added a two additional off-net NS after the last outage (well, off-net for the NZ operation anyway) and that should have protected the DNS service somewhat this time round. Pity I didn't catch it in action, I'd like to have know a little more about how the DNS was failing this time (ie were the AU servers responding). I believe it was my suggestion last time that saw them added.

Whois is only returning two NZ based nameservers... (which are both attached to the same router!)

on't rely on whois for that information. Use the DNS; it's authorative.

dig ns 2talk.co.nz +short
ns2.2talk.co.nz.
ns3.2talk.co.nz.
ns1.2talk.co.nz.
ns4.2talk.co.nz.

ns2 and ns3 are both in the .au org (do some mtrs to the IPs; you'll see :)

seems someone fixed the dns config since the incident?

i'm seeing three name servers now..

not that dns really helps when you can't reach anything.
