Hi,
I'm a self employed contractor who works from home selling digital marketing products to businesses. This year I plan to avoid the NZ winter and move to South East Asia for a 'working holiday'. I want to lease an apartment for a few months in Vietnam for example, and work remotely making calls over the internet and sending emails.
As a complete VOIP noob, my initial thought is Skype will do the trick. I will just buy a subscription or credit and away we go. But after some more reading on VOIP, SIP trunking etc last night (which I admit was confusing as hell), now I think there might be more reliable/better quality options.
What I am now considering is:
Softphone (Bria?) > cloud PBX in NZ
or softphone > VOIP provider (www.voip.ms?)
I will be searching for apartments that have fibre and will need to make 30-50 ph calls into NZ per day and call quality is most important. Also I have a Macbook Air and will buy the best headset I can find before I leave (or should I consider a hardware SIP phone instead of softphone?).
Am I on the right track with this? can anyone suggest other solutions?
Thanks guys
