Just had fibre installed. Gone naked, and I’m wondering about a couple of things.

[1] when receiving a call from the UK, from any number, my phone cuts out after 60mins. It used to be 30mins. Sshot remotely fixed the 30min cut out. I want to fix the 60min cut-out myself but don’t know how. I’m guessing it’s something to do with SIP but I don’t want to tweak anything until I ask. Below are some settings that may help readers help me.

[2] When the copper was cut, we just carried on using our old Panasonic cordless phone. We've a wireless connection to two other phones and we want to retain the functionality of having >=3 phones. But, I’m wondering if purchasing a purpose made VOIP phone may give us a better user experience?

Thank you.

Could be any number of reasons this happens including settings at their end if it's something like a session timer expiring.

Surely they provide a managed voice solution so should be looking into this and fixing it for you?

Thanks. As you've not commented on the screen grab I'm assuming it is not showing the correct place to make changes. I don't know where Sshot remoted into exactly. I'll call them and ask.

If anyone wants a stab at my point [2] question it would be apreciated.

Cheers

A VoIP phone will make no difference to call quality. Will it make a difference to the user experience? That depends on what you're expecting. I have at last count 10 VoIP phones here and don't think it improves my user experience. :)

I personally think the Broadcom (or whoever the actual manufacturer is) sip stack is just a flakey piece of crap.

Not helpful I know, but have just personally had too many issues with those later model routers that run this chipset.

Had very good success lately using the little Yeastar ATA device. And then there is old faithfull, the spa112 (just bad t38 support on that).

Anyway, in regards to your issue, what Steve is getting at is that Slingshot should be doing a managed SIP service to ensure a good quality experience (even though he knows full well they don't do that haha).
