Hi all,

I'm am looking to port my 0800 number to a less expensive provider. Currently paying Telecom $35-$39/mth for the number. I will divert the number to a NZ voip service / VFX or 2talk, can anyone recommend a cheaper service that Telecoms?

Cheers
Mac

Thanks for the reply John, but I need it to run into a SIP trunk on my Asterisk PBX, Vodafone 0800 only terminates on the Vodafone network from what I can see.

Cheers

VFX does 0800 with no setup costs, you just pay their normal rates on incoming (Ie. 5c National, 30c mobile).

I don't think you can BYO 0800 tho, think you need to choose one from their 0800 12xxxx or 0800 14xxxx range.

WxC's tollfree service is excellent, I've used it many times.

0800 12X XXX or 0800 14X XXX only though, as previously mentioned. Maybe this is another time to bug Phil about TNAS again Wink

To revive an old thread... I have an 0800 number which I probably won't need for a couple of years, but would prefer to keep active. My current provider WxC charges a minimum of $7/month, a small sum but it'll add up. Are there any 0800 number providers that charge only for calls rather than a monthly fee?

Otherwise I guess I have to release the number and hope it's available in a couple of years, or get a new one, which wouldn't be a big deal really.

Edit - clarified that $7/month is minimum spend not a fee.

Vodafone may still offer their Casual 0800 plan. I used to use this, the setup was about $20 one-off, and then just calling rates for receiving calls. Unsure what it can terminate to, mine was attached to a VF mobile at the time.

I used to use VF as well, no monthly fee back then, but their website suggests it's $35 per month now.

Hmm, when did that change? I have ported in 0800 numbers to WxC before.

No monthly fee for having an 0800 with WxC, but there is a minimum $7 monthly spend.

Yep so if you're a very low user it's effectively a $7 monthly fee.
