Hello

I had a friend calling today as he could not setup 2talk. He ported the local number a day earlier. I asked if he could see the ported number on the web interface and he said no.

Can the VOIP phone base station(snom m9) be setup with the 028 number or does he need the local number that he has ported?

I believe you can setup a SIP connection with the 028 number, it behaves just like the ported number will.

I mean, he could use the 028 number, but that's not going to ring when someone rings his local number unless it's been configured to do that. He'd need to set a "always forward" on the local number to the 028 for it to function the way it sounds like you want it to work.

If the number hasn't shown up in the portal, it might have got stuck - contact 2talk.

I might go there and have a look.

I haven't done any new 2talk connections for ages as our phone has been working for a long time, and just about flawless..

You can setup the phone to work with the 028 number, however as the phone will then be associated with the 028 number it will either need to be changed later or the local number needs to be forwarded to the 028 number.

I have tried a couple times to get the connection working without success. Has anyone of you setup a snom m9r with 2talk?

Do you mean he had set up an account - which gives you an 028 number, and has now ported his landline number over to his 2talk account?

This is what I did when we moved to fibre.
Once they ported the landline number the old 028 number seemed to vanish and now logging in to the 2talk portal requires the landline number. makes sense though...

Just noticed 'he ported the local number a day earlier' have they told him porting is completed? It can take around 10 days and they send emails saying what is happening while the job is in progress.

I would turn off 'RTP encryption'. That would point to doing SRTP which will be unless you have all the certificates installed. Shouldn't stop you registering though (unless it forces TLS with that setting too).

Otherwise, just crank up wireshark. You will see what is happening in about 5 minutes.

When I ported my local number to 2Talk it took a good week or so to happen, but did happen at the date and time indicated by 2Talk. After the port was successful the originally provisioned 028 disappeared.

If the request to port the number was only a day or two ago I suggest you've probably got some old fashion waiting to do.

Yes the ported message was completed on the 1. May.

I suspect it has to do with the snom m9r settings
