Hello,
Skype updated itself on my Android 6.0 phone several weeks back. I was running Skype 7.46 which I was very happy with. This was automatically replaced with Skype 8, a totally different creature. I use Skype for my landline number and have been doing so since 2009. Skype 7 worked perfectly for me but Skype 8 has some considerable problems. Firstly, peoples voices sound unnaturally deep, it answers every call with speaker phone turned on by default (the ear speaker was perfect), your contacts list with both phone numbers and Skype Members is impossible to find, and there is no obvious way to get access to a settings menu to change default behaviour.
I want to roll back to version 7. For the first time in years I have uninstalled Skype from my mobile.
I want to download an APK of Skype 7.46 from somewhere but am wary about getting a load of malware.
I could download from APK Mirror:
or from UptoDown.com:
https://skype.en.uptodown.com/android/download/1614031
Is there a reliable way to test these? I tried scanning with Bitdefender on Windows 10, but the apk is password protected.
Is there some very reliable website where you can upload an APK to get it tested?
If I can't get this resolved I'll walk away from Skype. A great pity as it was a really good product.
