Probably a noob question, but, I have a business line that Spark have been forwarding from the landline at my old business address (about 5 km away but on another exchange, same prefix and same LCA) to a new number for a couple of years now.

I am toying with the idea of moving to naked broadband and using VoIP to (mainly) handle the incoming landline calls. Can the original number be ported to a VoIP provider or do I have to take the new number?

Yes absolutely you can port it. The forwarding is irrelevant - it's just a product that is attached to the old number. It will be torn down when the old number is ported but it won't matter because your SIP device will presumably register to the new provider from the location where you desire the number to end up being (or otherwise you will set up further forwarding arrangements, eg forwarding to cell or adding cell to the ring-group etc).

So I presumably just select BB provider, VoIP provider and sail off into the sunset.......
