Please may I ask:

Can anyone suggest a workaround that would cause a Skype incoming call to start a second ringtone from a windows 10 laptop.  The Skype "modern" ringtone is not audible when the user is out of the room.  A previously configured earlier version of Skype with an uploaded loud bell wav has been lost to updates.

Thanks in advance

Not sure if youre asking if you want a second ringtone to happen, or I guess a different one to the default, or that you're getting a case of a call ends up with two incoming rings.

For the latter I believe having two accounts on the PC logged in using the same Skype account can cause that.  If its the former (a different/louder ringtone) then Im not sure you can with recent updates (I havent found it).

Classic Skype vers 7.x allowed you to do stuff like changing your ringtone, but the latest Skype vers 8.* seems to have dumbed everything down, and is more like a Windows 10 "modern app". I feel this is big step backwards. It doesn't seem easy to download earlier versions, and even if you could, they'd likely get updated to this new POS.

Step1)  Find the audio file

Step2)  Get the audio file of what you want, edit it with an app and make it louder. (or simply do this with existing file). In the old days a simple .wav editor was able to 'normalise' or add a few dB of your choice to the overall recording.

Step3) refer step1, copy the file, save it as say "ringtonename_OLD.wav"

Step4) paste in new file name as the old file name (make sense)?

The ringtone, "modern" will be buried within windows.  Screen attributes also windows.

I think I will need something that can monitor the sound output of the laptop to detect a sustained sound of an incoming call in an otherwise idle time, perhaps screen saver and from that trigger a batch file to play another file over the top of "modern" that can be heard throughout the house.

I do not know why Microsoft has standardized the ringtone down.  Perhaps they are intending to sell the flexibility that existed before:  Multiple tones, up loadable and configured for different callers.

Please keep coming with ideas and comments.  Something will show up.

Thanks

I shot myself in the foot at OLDVERDION.COM with too early an issue of skype version. Microsoft was scurrilous enough to uninstall my old skype and insisted on the latest skype or nothing.

So system restore then recover to another skype that I had previously down loaded.  That is now uploaded waiting vetting at OLDVERSION.COM.

If that will install on your PC then it can accept custom ringtones.

The older person I was helping is happy now.
