I'm looking for a VOIP solution to manage calls for 4 different businesses. The most important thing I'm after is being able to identify which Organisation a call is for before answering.

For example John is the Accounts person for Company A and Company B. I want a setup so that whether he is answering on his mobile or desk phone he can see something like "Call for Company B- Accounts".

I'm currently using 2Talk with a simple setup and hoping to configure it in the way I described. I recently had a look at Spoke Phone who have a really nice mobile app and it shows you who the call is for while still showing the actual callers ID.

Would 3CX help with this?

You may need a PBX like 3CX or FreePBX. They can definitely do CID modification (Desk phones and SIP apps) and call announce (mobiles).

Spoke Phone sounds like it might do the trick too, and it's already set up for you!

Now that I think about it a bit more, unless you already have a fair chunk of IT infrastructure (or feel like paying a server company to host a PBX for you) I'd really suggest you try out Spoke Phone.

Phones and email are two things you don't want to mess with when you're in business because that's where your sales come in. You can be sure if a new customer calls, and your phones are broken, they'll call the next company down...

Asterisk is another option that could achieve this.

Or, if you're happy to pay someone else to do the work, you could look for a PBX builder or hosted PBX solution that are willing to write the code to achieve your need. There's probably people reading this forum who could pm you with their business offers if you indicate your interest.

If you didn't have to have the solution on the mobile client then I would have thought you could do this with a standard Yealink multi-line type phone. Something like the T46 for example (or many others). You'd just configure each company's 2talk account separately so you have 4 accounts in parallel on the same phone (they support up to like 9 or something, maybe more). Then name the account accordingly (in the config) and I'm sure there is an option to display which account the call is for. You can also assign different ring-tones for the different accounts. Maybe you could couple that with some other mobile client solution (eg Bria?).

3CX will do this out of the box on both a desk phone and the mobile app. IMO the 3CX mobile app is the best on the market due its proper support for push notifications and the way it connects to the PBX.

Shameless plug...

Based in Palmy North but can service anywhere from Auckland to Christchurch. We would do either 'cloud hosted' or an on-site install.
