Hi,I'm considering porting our office phones to a voip connection. Currently we are connected with Telstra and have two 96**** numbers from when we connected to telstra we also have our original telecom numbers 38**** which just link to our telstra numbers. We also have an 0800.
If the 38**** number that has the 0800 connected to it is ported will the 0800 be automatically directed to the new VoIP line?
Secondly, I'm looking at using Slingshot iTalk for our VoIP lines and considering having an additional lines with a backup provider. Can anyone share their experiences with local voip providers.

I too am in a similar situation where I have 2 phone lines but 4 numbers (2 numbers to each line, a TCL 9xx xxxx and a Telecom 3xx xxxx).

I've been wanting/hoping to port 3xx xxxx properly to TCL and stop using 9xx xxxx... but seems like no one in TCL keen to help us out.

0800 numbers are just a redirect so can be forwarded to any number you choose. It's just a matter of setting this up with your 0800 provider - I don't know if this will happen automatically it depends if they are forwarded at present to your 38xxxxx or 96xxxxx numbers.

As for VoIP providers VFX or 2talk are both regarded as the two best options. 2talk and iTalk are similair platforms (both are part of Callplus) but 2talk has a better offering.

What hardwarwe do you plan to use?

Before you switch providers, find out what they(your new provider) can do with your existing 0800 number.
Have had 3 WXC trunks for over 2 years now, they have been pretty reliable. I hear you set up a personal account or pay business rates for local calls - also check how the 0800 calls are charged.
