And I though this should be easy.  I have a 2Talk number that I want to put into a Grandstream ATA HT801.

I have the generic SIP settings from 2Talk, and I have applied them in as much as I can, but I am obviously missing something, or I have tinkered as a part of fixing.

Can anyone shed any insight, and even to the point they would be happy to share their config?

My config is in a pdf file here

Have you tried placing a 0 (zero) in front of your sip ID and authentication numbers?

Yeah, my setup has the full area code including the leading zero.

Two easy things to try (with no explanation of why - I'll explain the likely reason if you report back to say either of them fixed it for you)

 - set your signalling to TCP instead of UDP

 - have a look under the other tabs (eg advanced) for a register port (defaults to 5060) and change it to port 50600

Right...  sooo  >>>

Leading 0 ... reinstated this, had removed it as a part of trouble shooting - still nothing.
Ports ... yup Ok, tried UDP/TCP and new port numbers.  Various combinations - no sniff of a change.
Back to basics:
Device is working in as much as on hook/off hook, I get a dial tone... so why is it not talking to the sever?
Back to 2talk login, checks number, checks plan, all seems good.
Message support: asking to check if they can see a reason for issue at their end (no answer).
Meanwhile, factory resets device, adds config from the generic settings given.
Checks number on 2talk account page, writes it down again.  reenters it.
Goes to update... wait a min.

What advice would I give myself at this point?

Clicks 'show password' from the number summary and realise that what I though was a capital letter is not....  It was a password error all this time.

At least it will be the last one for the year. 😉

Glad to hear you got it working now.
