I am looking at replacing a D-Link DVG-1402S broadband VOIP router with another suitable product.

According to Cisco's somewhat confusing website both of the Linksys SPA-2102 and SPA-3102 should have basically similar capabilities to the DLink.

I bought the DLink when I changed from DSL to Telstra cable. Most DSL modems come with built in router and DHCP allowing multiple computers on the LAN when plugged into a switch. The Telstra cable modem doesn't have these capabilities.

The capabilities that I would specifically need in a replacement product are:
- VOIP ATA to plug in my old cordless phone onto 2talk
- DHCP server to generate IPs for connected computers. Whereas the DLink has 4 ports in it, a replacement with only 1 port is OK as I have a 5 port switch for connecting multiple computers.
- Router to route the multiple computers over the Internet.

Can the SPA-2102 and SPA-3102 both do all of the above as they are a good price and Linksys hardware seems to be reliable and more commonly in use in New Zealand.

Thanks

Yes, the SPA-3102 does all that.. not sure on the 2102, but I use a 3102 with no problems at all

Yes the SPA2102 and SPA3102 will do this, they are very similar apart from the FXO/FXS port configuration.

Unless things have changed in newer models you can't rely on the 2102 or 3102 as your primary router - the WAN throughput is terrible and will significantly reduce your 10Mbps cable speeds.

I'd suggest the linksys WRP400. This is a much newer model, has wireless, handle greater than 10Mbps easy - infact is model used for fibre to home installs.

The SPA2102 can do up to 7Mbps alright apparently. The plan I am on is only 4Mbps anyway. Can't get such a good price on the WRP400 and if I end up needing a faster rate I'll just buy a separate router.
